Brief History

St. John Paul II Sabbatical Centre was started by the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a as a centre for priests and religious men and women from all over the world.

The founder, Rt.Rev James Maria Wainaina was inspired to begin a centre where priests could reside, to integrate their physical, spiritual and emotional lives with their Apostolate. Together with the Diocese and support from well wishers, the centre was opened  in August 2013.
