By the Participants
“Rise Above the Challenges” is the theme chosen by the participants as we prepare to leave this centre and begin a new chapter of our journey.
The beautiful landscape of Maragua mirrors the story of each participant in the 26th Session. Behind every face gathered here is a unique story of struggle, sacrifice, hope, and resilience. We are thirty-three participants drawn from eleven different nationalities, united by one common desire: renewal.
When we first arrived, many of us were weary from ministry—physically drained, emotionally exhausted, and spiritually dry. Even the environment around us seemed to reflect our inner condition. The land was dry, the weather harsh, and the atmosphere silent. But slowly, the rains began to fall. The earth responded immediately; dry ground turned green and life began to emerge again.
In the same way, a deep transformation was quietly taking place within us. Through moments of rest, nourishing meals, long hours of prayer and meditation, personal and group therapy sessions, meaningful sharing, and enriching lectures, we gradually rediscovered ourselves. Healing began to replace exhaustion, hope replaced discouragement, and strength replaced weariness. For four months, St. John Paul II Centre became more than a place for us—it became a home, a sanctuary of restoration for hearts wounded by burnout and the demands of ministry.
The hills surrounding this land speak powerfully to us. Life is not lived on flat ground; it is filled with climbs, valleys, and challenges. Yet every morning, the sun faithfully rises above the hills, bringing warmth, light, and new hope to creation. That rising sun becomes a symbol of Christ Himself—the Risen Lord who conquered suffering, overcame the cross, and triumphed over every challenge.
Today, the green landscape around us reflects who we have become. We stand renewed, hopeful, and ready to be commissioned. Filled with the Holy Spirit and renewed by the life of the Risen Christ, we are prepared to go forth and bear fruits that will last.
The river flowing between the hills reminds us of the mission ahead of us. Just as the river never ceases to bring life, growth, and hope to the land, may we too become channels of healing, peace, prosperity, and transformation wherever we are sent.
Strengthened by the Spirit, may we rise above fear, discouragement, and every obstacle that stands before us. And like the birds soaring freely across the skies above this beautiful landscape, may we continue to rise higher and higher—free, courageous, and full of hope.
